A mock PIA flight has already landed on the New Islamabad International Airport. Pakistan International Airline (PIA) successfully operated a mock test flight from the Airport on April 7th, 2018. Now the first real PIA flight will land on New Islamabad Airport on April 20th.
The first scheduled passenger flight will land at the New Islamabad International Airport on April 20. It will be PIA’s flight PK-300 from Karachi that will land in the New Airport, being the first flight. The Boeing 777 flight PK-300 will arrive at New Islamabad International Airport at 8:55 AM. The Aviation Division has informed all concerned departments about the landing of the first fight on 20th April at almost 9:00 am.

Though the new airport will be operational from April 20th, the inauguration date of the New Islamabad International Airport has been changed. New Islamabad International Airport Inauguration date has been changed to May 1st, 2018. The reason for this alteration is the unavailability of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. So the arrival and departure of the flights will start from April 20th, but the formal inauguration of the airport will be on May 1st.
It is pertinent to mention here that New Islamabad International Airport will be named after Liaquat Ali Khan. It will be called Liaquat Ali Khan International Airport.
