On Wednesday the first Green Mosque in the United Kingdom opened for prayers.
The Cambridge Central Mosque is built with timber. The “eco-mosque” is established on a Garden of Paradise—groove of trees as per the reports of BBC.
The mosque claims no carbon emissions, air source heat pumps and rainwater harvesting.
The architects who are behind the project said that the building would serve as a cultural bridge for Islam in Britain in the 21st century.
The mosque has got the capacity of 1,000 worshippers and it costs £23million.

Nearly 6,000 of the Muslims of the city had to offer prayers in shifts at the smaller and overcrowded Islamic centres as informed by the spokesperson. He added that there has been an immediate need for a proper mosque in Cambridge.
He added that it is a long due idea that has been put into reality now.
Marks Barfield Architects have designed the mosque. The mosque includes an ablution area, a prayer hall and accommodation facility for the Masjid Imam and his family and visiting scholars.
