First Ever Urban Forest Opens in Lahore

For combating with the issue of pollution, oxygen deficiency and heat, Dr. Mujtaba Piracha—the Commissioner of Lahore Division have inaugurated the first ever Urban Forest in Lahore by planting a sapling here.

In total, he planted 5 various kinds of saplings of local species under the Clean and Green Pakistan drive.

Dr. Faisal Zahoor—the DG PHA, Lahore Binale Foundation, Muhammad Sohail Khawaja—the Additional Commissioner, students from the National Special Education Institute and Lahore Bachao Tehreek took part in the plantation drive.

Dr. Mujtaba said that the saplings were being planted on an area of 5 kanal in total in the locality of Johar Town, under a planned layout by the professionals for sustaining the urban forestation.

He termed it a promising measure and said that the civil society was working with the governmental departments for initiating, designing and sustaining the drive.

He added that the 32kilometer right-of-way on both sides of the Mehmood Boti to Kalasha Kaku Road—Lahore Ring Road and thirteen parks were available for the forestation.

Detailed planning had been made to set up mini forests in Lahore.
