Shibli Faraz – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting – and Angela Aggeler – US charge d’affaires – discussed new investment plans for Pakistan, today.
In the recent meeting, Faraz said that Pakistan is in dire need of new investment and modern technology to support the economy of the country.
Talking to Angela Aggeler, Faraz said that Pakistan highly values its relations with the USA and desires to further strengthen the all-round cooperative partnership for mutual benefit.
Angela Aggeler on the occasion also appreciated Pakistan’s effective handling of the challenges posed by the COVID19 pandemic.
The federal minister said that PM Imran Khan’s vision of caring for both lives and livelihood had been instrumental in addressing the challenge of COVID19 in Pakistan. He said the government has all along been emphasizing to follow SOPs and necessary precautions to avoid the spread.
Faraz agreed with Aggeler’s view that while the pandemic affected a lot, it promoted new modes of communication, including digital communication.
The information minister also added that digital outreach greatly helped the country in imparting education and helped business activities to go online.

The federal minister also apprised the US charge’ d’ affaires of the media landscape in Pakistan and informed that the government was working on a journalist protection bill to strengthen media independence and ensuring safety, security, and welfare of working journalists.

He also added that Pakistan desires to develop the tourism sector as it would not only help promote the country’s heritage but also provide citizens the opportunity to interact with people of different countries, representing different cultures and traditions.
The report also informed that the US spokesperson also appreciated the minister’s views on promoting Pak-US economic cooperation.
