The federal cabinet is donating a month’s salary to the COVID-19 Relief Fund of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Information Minister Senator Shibli Faraz in a press conference said that during the cabinet meeting this was unanimously decided.
The cabinet approved the reconstitution of the National Commission for Minorities among other important decisions. The cabinet permitted the export of rice and locally manufactured hand sanitizers, and chloroquine.
Also, 61 food and non-food items were approved to be added in the quality control list of PSQCA.
The political gimmicks of the opposition parties were condemned by Shibli Faraz in light of the national emergency. He said that Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) are playing politics amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A detailed briefing was given by the Planning Minister Asad Umar on the coronavirus situation in the country. He said that the situation of Pakistan was much better in comparison to many developed nations.
Also the cabinet renewed the ban on the goods import from India. It was directed by Prime Minister Imran that there will be no violation of the ban.
The cabinet was explained of a report on Election Reforms which has now been sent to the Ministry of Law and Justice, as per Faraz. The report proposed launching electronic voting during the next general elections. Furthermore, the report said that the Election Reforms Committee has permitted Overseas Pakistanis to be included in polling through i-voting.
