The reports are coming that the lunar calendar announced by the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Hussain Chaudhry was challenged in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday.
According to the content of the petition, the petitioner said that the lunar calendar was not in live with the Islamic teachings. “The minister for Science and Technology (Fawad Chaudhry) first forced the nation to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr and now announced that upcoming Eidul Azha will be celebrated on August 12,” the petition reads.
The petitioner further argued that in order to determine the day for upcoming Eidul Azha, the day of Hajj need to be confirmed first.
The minister has determined the days of Eid without reading the Holy Quran, the petitioner said while requesting the high court that the lunar calendar not be introduced.
The petitioner further requested the Peshawar High Court (PHC) that the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry be removed from his post.
Fawad Hussain Chaudhry introduced Pakistan’s first moon sighting calendar for the next five years days before Eidul Fitr.
