Fawad Chaudhry, the Minister of Science and Technology on Wednesday questioned the decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee for the Zilhaj moon sighting, as per which the holy festival of Eid-ul-Azha would be celebrated on the 1st of August throughout the nation.
On Tuesday, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman said that the Zilhaj moon has not been seen and that Eid-ul-Azha would be celebrated throughout the nation on Saturday that is the 1st of August.
The Minister of Science and Technology posted a picture of the moon on his Twitter handle and asked people to make the decision themselves.
He asked that does the moon stay in the sky for so long after the sun sets? He further wrote that let the people decide for themselves.
Previously on Tuesday, the minister had claimed in a tweet that the Zilhaj moon has been born and would be visible in Karachi and its neighboring areas.
In the meantime, in another tweet, the minister said that the ban on the internet-based applications would destroy the technology industry of Pakistan thus affecting its development permanently.
