Sardar Usman Buzdar, Punjab CM, assured to give farmers’ rights. He said this while addressing the sugarcane growers.
The agriculture sector of Pakistan has been underperforming for a long time. Partly it’s because of too many taxes and partly due to the mafia.
But the Punjab CM has assured the farmers (especially sugarcane growers) to give them what’s rightfully theirs. He told the participants that the government was successful in fulfilling their promise the last year and so would they do this year.
He also assured that no one would be allowed to exploit farmers’ rights.
CM Punjab claimed that the PTI government has successfully kept its promise by paying the sugarcane growers on time and created strong relations with the farmers. Whereas the earlier government couldn’t perform well for the farmers.
The Punjab government has set a price of PKR 200 per maund sugar and approved the cutting of sugarcane in south Punjab from November 10th. While in other areas, the cutting would start from November 15th.
