Facebook is no more attractive to the young audience in the United States claims emarketer recent survey and forecast on social network usage. Facebook seems to be losing to Snaptchap and Instagram. According to the report, young adults are hanging more with Snapchat as compared to Facebook.
According to the report, the first time in the history, less than half of the internet users aged 12 to 17 will use Facebook on any device at least once in a month. The number of total Facebook users in the United States will reach 169.5 million in the year 2018 which is up less than 1% as compared to the previous year 2017.
However, in 2018 the number of Facebook users aged 11 or younger will decline by 9.3 percent. Additionally, the number of users aged 12 to 17 and 18 to 24 will decline by 5.6 percent and 5.8 percent respectively.
It seems ever-growing Facebook for the last decade would see a decline now onwards, the report also predicts that Facebook will lose roughly 2 million users aged 24 or younger during this year. The interesting part is that Facebook rivals will add more users including Snapchat and Instagram.
Instagram is expected to add 1.6 million users this year aged 24 and younger whereas Snapchat is expected to add 1.9 million users aged 24 and younger. The major concern with young adults as the analyst Williamson D.A describes is to maintain a social presence excluding parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts. The real question is; whether Snapchat and Instagram would be able to hold the users if their parents, grandparents migrate to those social platforms.
