It was revealed by the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Hammad Azhar via a tweet that the four-wheel electric vehicles (EV) policy is currently in works. Soon, a proposal will be presented to the cabinet once the Ministries of Climate Change and Science & Tech offers consultation regarding the matter.
Through his twitter, he revealed that the Engineering Development Board has collaborated with the Ministry of Industries to look into the dominant policy for the automotive sector. Furthermore, the tweet said that both entities are looking at options to help lessen the practices where automakers charge high due to vehicles overbooking.
Hammad Azhar tweeted, “Previously we announced Electric Vehicle policy for 2-3 wheelers, buses, and trucks. We are now working on EV policy for 4 wheelers and will be presenting policy proposals to cabinet in this regard after consultations with Ministries of Climate Change and Science & Tech.”
Also, earlier in response to a user question about the fall in quality standards in the automotive sector of Pakistan Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said,
“The standards for vehicles made in Pakistan have been set. The initial standards will be submitted to the cabinet for approval within a month. I believe that it was a very difficult task. There were many obstacles placed in my way, but I will do what I set out to do.”
