A flight of Etihad Airways traveling to Ahmedabad (India) from Abu Dhabi was diverted after the pilot finds a cow strayed near the runway. This incident happened on Friday morning.

The international flight was forced to abort the landing at Ahmadabad airport and diverted to Mumbai. Due to this incident, some other flights were also delayed, according to the local media reports.

The Etihad pilot was ready for landing and suddenly he spotted the cow strayed near the runway of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The airport authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

It was an “unusual incident” that was happened at 3 am local time when the gate of the airport was opened for two vehicles and the cow followed the vehicles and get into the territory of the airport, a senior official said.

The official data shows that there were more than thousand incidents of bird strikes and animal colliding with planes happened at various Indian airports in 2017.
