Engineering Degrees of 21 Institutes in Pakistan Declared Fake


The engineering degrees of 21 universities and colleges across Pakistan have been declared fake and unauthorized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

During a National Assembly session on Wednesday, this issue was discussed. Details of universities and colleges that have issued fake degrees to students were submitted by the Ministry. It came into light these institutes are operating under fake affiliation certificates.

Since 2013, as many as 21 universities and colleges are misusing the career of students by issuing students fake degrees, the ministry official informed in the lower house.

The institutes that have issued fake degrees include 11 engineering universities and colleges from Punjab, five from Sindh, three from Gilgit Baltistan, while one each from Azad Kashmir and Islamabad.

Back on 11th January 2020, 23 sub-campuses of 7 private sector universities were declared unauthorized for operating without a formal affiliation certificate or approval from the provincial government by the Higher Education Department of Punjab (HED).

Legal action will be taken by the department against the owners of the campuses. Also, these campuses have been stopped from taking further admissions. Students via public advertisements have been asked to refrain from taking admission in such institutes.
