Eid ul Azha will be on August 12 2019 in Pakistan

The Eidul Azha and beginning of the month of Muharram dates have been announced by the Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry. In a tweet, the Minister confirmed that Eidul Azha will be on August 12th in Pakistan, Monday.

Also, Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar will start from September 1st. The dates are based on scientific evidence.

The Minister tweeted, “Now that the argument over this Eid’s dates has ended, what will be the dates for the next two most important Islamic dates, Eidul Azha and Muharram”.

Adding, “According to the Hijri calendar, Eidul Azha will fall on Monday, August 12 while Muharram will begin on Sunday.”

The newly launched lunar calendar was used by the Ministry for Science and Technology to tell the date for Muharram and Eidul Azha in Pakistan. The aim of the calendar is to end the controversy that surrounds the moon sighting in Pakistan due to which each year two Eidul Fitr and two Eidul Azha’s are celebrated.
