The ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan Tarek Dahrough visited the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar at the Petroleum Ministry. The ambassador was heading an Egyptian Energy Company TAQA delegation. The aim was to explore the energy sector of Pakistan and find business opportunities.
An overview of the energy sector of Pakistan was given by SAPM. He revealed that the government is working earnestly to reform the energy sector of the country. He said that these efforts are personally supervised by the PM.
The SAPM restated that the Pakistan government is committed to cleaner fuels and green energy. He said that the energy mix of Pakistan will be diversified after hydel and renewable sources are injected in the national grid. He predicted that the share of renewable energy will increase by 20% by 2025. Adding, that of 2030 it would increase by 30%.
The Egyptian firm was interested to invest in the energy sector including power generation areas, transmission and distribution, and powers connected to renewable energy. This includes the LNG, CNG, and gas distribution sector of Pakistan.
For giving a presentation on the energy industry, the delegation expressed gratitude to the SAPM and said that they have a keen interest to step into the energy sector of Pakistan.
