On Monday the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) released a statement as per which the educational institutes in the province of Punjab have reported 55 positive coronavirus cases.
As per the P&SHD Secretary Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Usman, a total of 28,887 tests of coronavirus were conducted in the different educational institutions, and 55 individuals which include 51 students and 3 teachers, and 1 staff member were identified as COVID-19 positive.
The case breakdown further revealed that 41 children tested positive and 6,168 tested negative in the secondary schools, whereas in the higher secondary institutions 12 tested positive and 20,178 tested negative. However, in universities 1 tested positive and 1,770 tested negative.
The tests that were conducted in Madressahs total 154 and they all came out negative.
9 of the classrooms were sealed in the province for breaking the coronavirus related SOPs, out of these classrooms two were in Lahore, 6 in Gujrat, one each in Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, and Gujranwala.
Captain (Retd.) Usman indicated that the P&SHD had released detailed SOPs for all the educational institutions however, it has warned that strict implementation is needed in order to completely open the educational institutes.
