The provincial Education Department has taken the decision of taking strict action against teacher absenteeism and the ones who do not fulfil their responsibilities. This decision was taken under the zero-tolerance policy.
The secretary—Muhammad Tayyab Lehri on Friday announced that action would be taken against 179 teachers who are not performing their dutiesin the district of Quetta.
The secretary said that the education department has been following the zero-tolerance policy against any ignorance or carelessness. They have instructed all the divisional educational officers to act against teachers found absent.
The secretary informed that the Baluchistan government has been making use of all the available resources to reconstruct the education sector, the secretary said the surprise visits to government schools would be continued for keeping a check on the attendance of teachers.
He said that in the first phase they have decided of taking departmental action against 179 teachers, while the show cause notices have been given out to many more absent teachers.
Letters have been sent out to all the absent teachers, asking them to explain their reasons for absences within 7 days.
The secretary asked for the help of parents in recognizing the teachers being continuously absent from schools.
An educational emergency has been imposed in Baluchistan by the provincial government and it would not be tolerating any ignorance by the staff and teachers, he emphasized.
