ECP Founds Election Information Centres

Information centres have been founded by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in its offices present in the provinces, regions and districts for providing facility to the voters and to the public in large.

As per the official of Election Commission of Pakistan, the commission has uploaded all the related information of these centres on the official website of ECP besides introducing its short message service (SMS) 8300 for facilitating the voters across the nation.

He added that the voters could obtain information and details regarding the concerned polling stations just by sending a message to 8300 along with their Computerized National Identity Card Number (CNIC). He also said that nearly ten million people had obtained the details about their respective polling stations yet.

The spokesperson further said that the voters could get details regarding the place of vote and information about any constituency both of national and provincial assembly.

The polling scheme has been finalized and already been issued for the national and provincial constituencies for conducting the general elections 2018 in the federal capital and all the provinces.

He added that the ECP has provided all the information about the final polling scheme on the official website for the voters’ ease and facilitation. This has been done for complying with the basic right to information under the constitution.

The official further added that the polling scheme includes

  • the name of the constituency,
  • the name of the polling station,
  • the name of the electoral area,
  • census block code,
  • electoral role having a serial number of the voters in case of bifurcation of the electoral area,
  • the count of voters assigned to a polling station, and
  • the total number of booths allotted to any constituency including both male and female.
