The polling time has been extended by one hour by Election Commission of Pakistan. For the upcoming elections in 2018, the new voting time is from 8 am to 6 pm. Pakistan General Elections will be held on July 25th, 2018 and the fate of the country will be decided for the next 5 years.
ECP has decided to extend voting time by one hour thus polling will continue uninterruptedly for 10 hours. The voting time has been extended to ensure maximum participation by Pakistani public during the elections.
Initially, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s requested the Election body to extend polling time but it was rejected. ECP said that the time will remain from 8 am to 5 pm and it won’t be extended unless there is an emergency during election day.
PTI then wrote a letter to secretary ECP and again requested for an extension in voting time. As per PTI due to extremely hot weather people will not leave their homes to cast votes in the morning and daytime. The majority will come out in the evening thus the polling time should be extended.

Politicians have started their election campaigns as Sheikh Rasheed was seen visiting his constituency on a bike, Imran Khan along with his wife visited Baba Farid’s shrine ahead of the elections and Shehbaz Sharif was seen campaigning for votes in Karachi.
