The economic Coordination Committee (ECC) is scheduled to meet today in order to discuss various financial and economic matters; the Finance Minister Asad Umar will chair the meeting.
The ECC is more likely to discuss Pakistan and Azerbaijan Republic agreement on oil supply. An agreement between Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and the state-owned Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is underway which needs some strategic decision making.
If the agreement is inked Pakistan State Oil (PSO) would probably receive oil supply from (SOCAR) in the coming months.
The Finance Minister Asad Umar is also expected to review the decisions taken to resolve the urea supply issue along with the issue of exporting the surplus wheat and some other commodities will also be discussed, according to the local news channel.
The ECC is also expected to discuss the matter of releasing funds for Pakistan Machine Tool Factory (PMTF) employees. Yesterday, Asad Umar chaired a meeting in order to review the progress of various economic zones in the country, minister for planning and development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar also attended the meeting.
During the yesterday’s meeting, the minister for planning and development was given a task to ensure the infrastructure development in key economic zones in order to promote economic activities in the country.
