Dust Storm in Karachi Kills 4 People


On Wednesday, there was a dust storm in Karachi which took the lives of four people and three have been injured.

In some areas, the speed of the wind was measured approximately 60 to 70 km/h which caused major damage. Some areas of Karachi also experienced rain with the dust storm.

In Gulshan-e-Maymar, a 40-year old man lost his life after a wall collapsed over him. A portion of the ceiling fell down on a 22-year old man in Lyari. In Saadi town, a woman ageing 60-year old died as a wall fell down on her. The same incident took a life of a 15-year old boy living in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 13.

Three people who got inured came under falling trees.

Everybody was shocked to see a sudden dust storm, most importantly the K-electric, whose systems failed and left many areas of the city in dark for about 8-10 hours.

Long hours of load shedding were reported from different areas of Karachi like; Surjani, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Landhi, Orangi, Shadman Town, Federal B Area, Korangi, Safoora Goth, Shah Faisal, Gadap, North Karachi, Industrial area, Sindhi Hotel and Gulshan-e-Maymar and many other areas.

All the residents had to spend their nights without electricity. Many of them called K-electric to complain but all they were told that the repair work is undergoing.
