Fawad Chaudhry, the federal minister for Science and Technology has said that DRAP has given approval to the first-ever locally manufactured testing kits for the detection of coronavirus, as per the reports of local media.
He made this special announcement on Twitter. The kits have been made by the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).
The minister congratulated the scientists on the big achievement. This indeed is a big accomplishment for the country.
He said that the approval of the locally made coronavirus testing kits would help in the reduction of the import bill and the test’s costs.
It is important to mention that NUST has also made hand sanitizers and drones.
On the other hand, the government of Punjab has taken the decision to reimpose the lockdown in Lahore after there has been a surge in the coronavirus cases, according to the sources.
Final approval would be given by PM Khan after making consultations with the National Command and Operation Centre.
