It has been learned that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) took a step and announced to take strict action against the illegal advertising of the medicines that are routinely circulated in the electronic and print media.
A notification issued by the authorities on Sunday reads that the DRAP will take the action against the pharmaceutical companies which are involved in the illegal marketing of the medicines on several platforms, including social media, TV and newspapers.
According to the details, without prior permission, advertising medicines is a punishable offence under DRUG Act 1976, the notification mentioned.
A warning of legal action has also been issued to the professionals and doctors involved in illegal marketing and advertising of medicines—which pose a serious threat to the health of the people.
The drug inspectors across Punjab have been directed by the concerned authorities to ensure the stern action against those involved in the criminal activities.
