The star cricketer of West Indies and the most loved person in Pakistan, Darren Sammy will be awarded Pakistan’s highest civilian award and honorary citizenship on 23rd March. This has been announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
As per PCB this highest civilian award and honorary citizenship will be given to Dareen Sammy by Pakistan President Arif Alvi. He will be conferred this for his immense contribution to Pakistani cricket.
PCB Media tweeted, “President of Pakistan Dr @ArifAlvi will confer the highest civilian award and honorary citizenship to Darren Sammy on 23 March for his invaluable contribution to cricket in Pakistan.”
Earlier on 19th February the Peshawar Zalmi team owner Javed Afridi said that they have requested the President to grant the Zalmi skipper honorary citizenship of Pakistan and requested PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani to follow up on it personally so that the application is approved, and now it has been approved.
Sammy is a star West Indian cricketer and a regular PSL player. He has played in all Pakistan Super League seasons taking place for the last five years for Peshawar Zalmi.
His support and unconditional love for Pakistan has made him the favorite foreign player playing in Pakistan. He was the first foreign player to reach Pakistan for the ongoing PSL 5th edition.
