Over Rs.1 billion funds & donations have been given by Pakistanis for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dam construction.
So far Rs 1,139,720,000 donation has been received for the construction of dams.
On Supreme Court’s directive, the fund was established by State Bank of Pakistan. For the receival of donations in cash, cheques, pay orders and demand drafts SBP asked all commercial, micro-finance banks, and field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation to open the fund account. People can donate for the construction of dams in all branches of the banks all over Pakistan.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was the person who did not just initiated this process but also was the first person who gave Rs 10 lac for the construction of dams.
After the Chief Justice, ISPR DG Major General Asif Ghafoor said that all PakArmy officers, Navy and Air Force donated their two-day salary for the construction of dams while the soldiers donated their one-day salary for the project.
Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani also donated Rs 1.5 million for dams construction while Habib Bank Ltd announced Rs 10 crore donation for the national cause.
KPK government officers also contributed their three-day salary for the construction of the dams.
The Federal cabinet also decided to donate a month’s salary. Ministry of Finance issued an office memorandum that stated that “Supreme Court of Pakistan vide judgment dated July 04, 2018 passed in Constitutional Petition No. 57 of 2016 directed to establish a fund in the name of the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.”
All the donations and funds are deposited in “Supreme Court of Pakistan Diamar Bhasha and Mohmand dam fund”.
