The Chairman FBR—Shabbar Zaidi has met with the heads of NUST—National University of Sciences and Technology and LUMS—Lahore University of Management and Sciences for discussing the participation in an internship programme that is to be introduced by the Pakistan Customs, as per the reports of local media.
Pakistan Customs has made the decision of launching the internship programme for the university students from June 2020 aimed at boosting the abilities of the students.
Dr Jawad—Member Customs Operations was also a part of the meeting and briefed the heads of the educational institutions over the internship programme.
He also said that nearly 200 students of BS and MS programme would be enrolled at the start from June 2020.
Under the programme, the students would be given a stipend of Rs.12,000 on a per month basis, he also said that the programme would help the students in getting better jobs besides improving their confidence level.
On the 17th of November, the PM Youth Affairs Program has planned to introduce the National Internship Program for dealing with the issue of unemployment of youth in the nation.
As per an official source, the objective of the said program is to improve the employment ratio of the educated youth for making them independent economically.
He also said that the program would be introducing a joint venture of government, universities and industry for channelizing the energy of the educated youth in the right direction.
Students would be chosen from the various educational institutions and they would be paid the stipend during the internship time period.
