CPPA, Central Power Purchasing Agency has submitted a petition to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) asking to reduce the high electricity price by Rs1.80 per unit.
The price cut suggested by CPPA is to adjust fuel for August month. From Hydel, coal, diesel, furnace oil and Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas 32.90%, 3.18%, 3.63%, 24.49%, 16.84%, 16.83% electricity was produced.
The hearing of this petition will be conducted on September 26th. Previously NEPRA increased the price of electricity by Rs 3.90 per unit as pressure was put on it by distribution stakeholders.
It isn’t easy for people of Pakistan to pay huge amounts of electricity bills while not even having electricity at all times. If the electricity companies increase bills they should at least supply it for 24 hours.
