Where coronavirus has taken on everything almost everywhere in the world, it has also brought a halt to court marriages.
As per the officials of the district family courts at Rawalpindi due to the measures taken by the district administration, not a single couple has contacted them for getting registered for the contract marriages in the span of past 10 days.
They also said that the applications for divorce have also fallen to just 5 in the past week, which is below from the average of 20.
Coronavirus has taken the mind off of every other thing. The officials said that in the last week, no woman or girl came looking for shelter at the Darul Amaan over domestic fight or abuse. Also, there were no reports of any elopement case.
However, they also mentioned that they are still not sure whether the drop in the cases was because of the coronavirus epidemic or is a part of some natural cycle.
The decrease in the cases has come even as the city district administration is struggling to halt the people from arranging the wedding functions throughout the district amid the social distancing protocol as a preventive measure against coronavirus
