“The plastic bags are becoming toxic especially for our marine life,” Justice Shahid Karim said.
He further asked the authorities why the departmental stores are showing reluctance in leaving the use of plastic bags and remarked that it is the step they should have taken on their own.
“We have imposed a complete ban on the usage of the polythene bag at the departmental stores because of big plastic shoppers made up of more chemicals being used there,” the judge, during the hearing, remarked.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) directed all the concerned authorities to submit a detailed report regarding implementation on the ban on the plastic bags and adjourned the hearing till February 28.
