The Health Secretary, Nosheen Hamid, stated the approval to pre-book coronavirus vaccine is granted by the prime minister of Pakistan.
She informed that the government reached out to two large pharmaceutical companies in this regard, and the country will soon pay for the vaccine.
Initially, the vaccine will be available to 10 million people.
Initially, the vaccine will be administered to health workers and people above 65 years of age,
Imran Khan has approved specific funding for the advance purchase of the vaccine. He has also shown special interest in ensuring quality vaccines to reach Pakistan at the earliest.
The health ministry further said the government has developed a strategy in response to global best practices. The government has prioritized the groups most likely to be the initial recipients of a potential vaccine.
It’s expected that life would get normalized till the next winter.
