Coronavirus Caused Rs.10 billion Loss to the Tourism Industry of KP

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused Rs.10 billion loss to the tourism industry of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This was shared by the spokesperson of the KP Tourism Department-Latif-ur-Rehman.

According to the reports, he said that the province of KP which once attracted thousands of both local and foreign tourists had been affected the most by the corona induced travel limitations when many businesses in the province were left non-operational amid the epidemic spread scare.

The ratio of the foreign and local tourists has drastically fallen and has left thousands of people who were associated with the tourism sector jobless.

Latif-ur-Rehman also added that after the decline in the cases of coronavirus, at minimal 0.1 million tourists visited the different tourist sites in the province. He further added that the tourism industry is now slowly recovering back from its losses.

He also informed that the government has been aware of the complete situation and is planning to take the needed steps for saving the local tourism sector.

On the other hand, as per the latest, the federal minister for Railways has announced that the online booking for the freight trains would be starting from the 20th of October.
