Khusro Bakhtiar—the Minister for Planning and Development has said that the government has got the plans of establishing a medical college, university and a nursing school at Gwadar.
While speaking at the senate, the Minister said that the government would make sure to protect the rights of the people of Gwadar and added that many new projects are in the making for the betterment of the people of the locality.
The Minister added that the government has taken measures to provide vocational and other training to the local people of Gwadar for bringing them up to the needs of the modern times and to enable them to deal with the challenges and opportunities which are to be brought by the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He added that an amount of Rs2 billion would be used for the vocational training with the assistance of the government of China as a grant amount.
The minister added that the federal government would be coordinating with the provincial government of Baluchistan for promoting education. He added that the Higher Education Commission has started to award scholarships to the local students.
He also said that the government would take the needed steps to make sure that the local people are given priority in the skilled labour force and to give utmost recruitment of the unskilled labour force amongst the locals in all the CPEC project in the area.
Nearly 444 localities have been offered jobs out of 500 jobs at Gwadar Stateway Express, he further added.
