Construction of a Railway Track from Gwadar to Quetta to Iran

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed the Federal Railways Minister has said that a railway track will be constructed from Gwadar to Quetta and it will be extended to Iran. The railway track will facilitate the economic activities in the area.

He said that Gwadar will be linked to the rest of the country through the construction of an 1800-kilometers lengthy special railway track. The railway track will be constructed under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Sheikh Rashid informed about the railway track while talking to the media upon his arrival on a two-day visit in Quetta.

He said Gwadar is the center for economic development of Pakistan as there is no such port in the entire world like Gwadar port. Furthermore, the Railway Minister said that the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to China is extremely important. Different projects under CPEC will be discussed during the visit. He also said that a Gwadar-Quetta rail link will be beneficial for the country and for CPEC.

Talking about passenger trains he said,  “Five goods trains could be given to the private sector if railways itself could not earn profit from them.”

Regarding the problems faced by the nation presently Rashid said, “The government will bring the nation out of these problems, there should be no confusion regarding it. If friendly countries do not help us then we will be compelled to go to the IMF.”
