Under the leadership of Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, the ongoing process of accountability of the corrupt elements is bearing fruits as the looted money is being recovered from the several public officeholders.
According to the details, the Federal Ministry of Communication made its second-biggest recovery of the looted money by the audits and investigations of several contracts by the previous governments.
The details claim that the communication ministry had recovered Rs1.32 billion from the corrupt elements and submitted the money to the national exchequer.
As per the details, the advance payment of Rs 200 million was recovered by the ministry that was looted on the name Okara Bypass project. The additional amount of Rs242 million has also been recovered that was given to the contractor for a project in Panjgur.
On the other hand, another amount worth Rs69 million has also been recovered by Rajanpur and DG Khan Indus Highway.
The communication ministry has also recovered Rs122 million from Islamabad-Muzzafarabad Dual Carriageway, which was paid in the violation of PC-1 (Planning Commission).
Back in July of this year, the Federal Minister of Communication had recovered another Rs4500 million by conducting the audit of the several projects approved by the minister in the past.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the period of last year, the communication ministry had recovered a total amount of Rs8 billion.
On the directives of the Federal Minister for Communication Murad Saeed, a campaign was launched by the ministry for the recovery of looted money of the ministry in several contracts.
