A new version of AirPods Pro could arrive soon. The recent information comes from industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo notes that Apple could introduce a new version of AirPods Pro provided with a USB-C charging case later this year. Well, honestly speaking it doesn’t appear to be a huge upgrade for the AirPods. Since the only difference is the USB-C port.

Previously, the company upgraded the charging case for AirPods and AirPods Pro. The company introduced the MagSafe feature to the charging case of AirPods Pro. Besides this, Apple introduced wireless charging to the AirPods case. In addition to this, Kuo did mention that there are no plans to release a USB-C version of the 2nd generation or 3rd generation AirPods. It will only be introduced for the AirPods Pro.

The new case will likely be announced in September

So, when might these AirPods Pro with USB-C be released? Well, we can expect them with the release of the next iPhones and Apple Watches, most likely in September. Or perhaps in October when the new Macs and/or iPads are introduced. Apple might also issue a press release as this is a relatively minor upgrade.

The major reason behind this upgrade is the EU guidelines for USB-C regulations. By the end of 2024, all electronics must be USB-C compatible. Given this fact, the iPhone 15 will introduce USB-C later this year. Consumers will benefit from being able to charge all of their devices with a single wire.
