The CNG owners are all ready to launch their protest today as the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced to stop the gas supply to the CNG stations throughout the province of Sindh for an indefinite period of time.
In a statement, the SSGC spokesperson said that the supply to CNG stations would remain suspended for an indefinite period of time owing to technical faults in the field. The spokesperson further added that the gas supply would also remain halted for a span of three months to the industrial units operated by the caged power plants in Karachi.
The spokesperson also said that initiatives are being taken for restoring the gas supply to the commercial and domestic users with full pressure.
In the meantime, the CNG associations have announced to launch a protest outside the SSGC office against the continuous supply halt. The leaders of the CNG associations said that repeated gas supply discontinuation has adversely affected their businesses.
Responding to the decision of SSGC of discontinuing gas supply to the industrial units of Karachi, the business community leader—Siraj Qasim Teli said that it is inexcusable that despite Imran Khan—the Prime Minister’s assurances of proving undisrupted gas supply, the gas supply has been stopped for 3 months.
He asked the prime minister to take notice of the situation and assure that the gas is supplied to the industrial units in the city.
