Mahmood Khan KP Chief Minister has asked to frame a uniform policy framework for the well-being of the laborers in the province in order to protect their basic rights.
On Sunday, a meeting took place to review the progress of the labor department in which the CM asked the constitution of a committee headed led by the Additional Chief Secretary which represents all the concerned departments to come with effective proposals in this regard.
Shaukat Yousfzai Provincial minister for Labor, Secretary Labor, Principal Secretary to CM Shahab Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir, Secretary Finance Atif Rehman, and many other concerned high ups were present in this meeting.
In the meeting, many matters were discussed related to the regularization of the contract employees of the Workers Welfare Board. The meeting also briefed steps taken for the fixation of minimum wages of the workers, welfare of the labor community, progress on laborers’ data collection.
The provincial minister explained the issues laborers were facing while working in different types of mines because of the existence of many policies under different concerned departments.
The CM directed the concerned authorities to accelerate the work on computerized data collection of the laborers all over the province. He also asked them to work on extreme reforms in the affairs of the labor department mainly focusing on Workers Welfare Board so that it becomes effective enough to ensure the protection of the rights of the laborers.
CM directed to review the policies which govern the matters of the laborers and to come up with proposals for a single and comprehensive policy under a single department so that the laborers can be facilitated in a better and easy way.
Mahmood Khan said that the well-being of the laborers is the topmost priority of the government. The government is making all efforts to protect the rights of the laborers.
