An Ultra LED assembly plant has been set up in Karachi by China’s TV brand Hisense in collaboration with a Pakistani company. The plan is to develop a local production laboratory for Ultra LED panels in Karachi.
Hisense is a government-owned company with its headquarters in Qingdao, Shandong province. The company has collaborated with Tri-Angels Electronics to launch Ultra LED and laser televisions
$1.5 million was invested to set up the assembly plant in July.
Tri-Angels Electronics Chief Executive Officer Imran Ghani said: “We are also going to establish a clean laboratory for Ultra LED panels with an additional $1.3 million by January 2019.”
Almost 1.4 million TV sets are imported into Pakistan every year. 60% of them are imported from China and the rest from Korea. When this assembly plant is set up around 70% to 75% LED sets will be assembled locally in Pakistan claimed the CEO.
Hisense has helped in setting up the plant. It will produce 500 units daily. Currently, 100 people are employed and it will increase to almost double when the laboratory gets operational.
Tri-Angels Marketing Director Junaid Hidayat said that normal led screens have 1,080 pixels resolution but the Ultra LED introduced by the company will have 4000 pixels.
