The Minister for Planning, Development, and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal, on Wednesday, said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will build strong trading zones between nations.
Ever since the inauguration of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), experts are predicting a booming economy in the coming years. Some even predicted that along with CPEC, Pakistan could become the 16th largest economy in the world.
While talking to the media, Ahsan Iqbal said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would create strong trade zones both for Pakistan and China. This economic belt would not only help Pakistani industries to rise up again but will also offer new jobs in the country.
“Trade zones will be created in the federal capital, all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Federally Administered Tribal Areas. Large-scale Chinese and Pakistani companies will invest in these trade zones,” said the minister. “The trade zones established under the CPEC project will not only create new jobs, they will also transfer new technology to Pakistan.”
The long-awaited project, CPEC will not only build trade opportunities between China and Pakistan. But this economic belt would further invite more nations. Pakistan has also invited UAE to invest in CPEC. In February 2017, an envoy went to UAE to discuss the offer and build a stronger relation with the country.
While CPEC is one key source to improve the economic health of the country, several stakeholes are found opposing this project. Some even believe that this project would bring value to Punjab only. While there are some outside forces who don’t want this project to succeed.
