China is Ready for a Trade War with the USA

China slammed the USA on Wednesday as a statement by Washington stated that they will not remove tariffs and restrictions on the Chinese companies. China clearly stated that it is ready to fight back if a trade war is started by the USA.

United States said that it will still hold the warning of imposing restrictions and tariffs on $50 billion Chinese imports if China is unable to address the American intellectual property theft issue.

This statement was issued by USA days before the U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross visit to Beijing.

Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China William Zarit believes that America’s threat to China is “somewhat effective”.

Adding, “I don’t think it is only a tactic, personally. The thinking became that if the U.S. doesn’t have any leverage and there is no pressure on our Chinese friends, then we will not have serious negotiations.”

China’s Commerce Ministry said that the statement by Washington is surprising and negates the recent agreements between both sides.

As per Global Times, USA is suffering from a “delusion” and gave a warning that “trade renege could leave Washington dancing with itself”.

Communist Party’s official People’s Daily has issued a statement which says,  “The Chinese government will have the necessary measures in place to deal with a U.S. withdrawal from any settled agreement. If the U.S. wants to play games, then China would be more than willing to play along and do so until the very end.”

State news agency Xinhua said that China is hopeful that the USA will not act impulsively, but if it does China is ready to fight back.

“China’s attitude, as always, is: we do not want to fight, but we are also not afraid to fight. China will continue to hold pragmatic consultations with the United States’ delegation and hope that the United States will act in accordance with the spirit of the joint statement.”

When initially the USA announced tariffs on Chinese imports, China warned the USA and then in a response announced tariffs on US food and other imports worth $3 billion. Then both the countries tried to negotiate till this statement was issued by Washington. Now let’s see how this trade war between two superpowers will end.
