Air Marshal Arshad Malik—the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan praying to the top court to set aside the order of the Sindh High Court.
The CEO of the national carrier flag of Pakistan further prayed to the apex court to stay the further proceedings regarding the matter till the final disposal of his appeal.
Earlier in December 2019, the Sindh High Court (SHC) restrained Air Marshal Arshad Malik from carrying out any function as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the PIA till January 22. The high court issued notices to Air Marshal Arshad Malik and the federal government of Pakistan for January 22, 2020.
According to the details, a two-member bench of the Sindh High Court, in its order, had also restrained the Chief Human Resource Officer of Pakistan International Airlines and board of directors from carrying out any function.
It is worth mentioning here that Air Marshal Arshad Malik had been nominated as the Directed of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) since October 17, 2018. He was elected as acting CEO of the airline on October 26, 2018, and he took the charge of the office of the CEO PIA as regular CEO on April 26, 2019, as per PSC Guidelines 2015.
Before joining Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Air Marshal Arshad Malik was Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) of Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
