Cement and structural iron prices skyrocketed in Karachi as construction activities resume after the government allowed the construction sector to start operations gradually.
According to the sources the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Relief Package for the construction sector has begun.
The reverse effect of the relief package of the Prime Minister for the construction sector has seen a sharp rise in the prices of construction materials in spite of the facilities. Everything including cement, mortar, and gravel has become more expensive overnight which has upset the people. Cement became more expensive by Rs.60 per sack and went up from Rs.460 to Rs.520.
The price of structural iron increased by Rs.12000 per ton also a single load of gravel was increased by Rs.4000. The price of structural iron increased from Rs.105,000 to Rs.117,000 per ton just in hours and the load of 800 feet of gravel jumped from Rs.34,000 to Rs.38,000.
