CDA to Introduce Electric Bus Service in Islamabad

Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to launch electric buses in an extended dedicated corridor for the metro bus service. It will connect the city to Islamabad International Airport (IIA).

For this, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has prepared an operationalization model for the Metro Bus Service (MBS) from Peshawar Morr to Islamabad International Airport.

As per the CDA officials, the meeting in this regard took place in the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister office on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan.

Fleet acquisition, , information technology services, security surveillance and AFC system acquisition are included in the model. Also it includes the allied infrastructure construction like command and control centre.

Also, the official said that the operations and maintenance of the service will be outsourced via four different service contracts and probably to 4 different contractors.

The official said that the project itself will see 30 new, air-conditioned buses working on a fixed schedule between the airport and Peshawar Morr.

The authority believes there will be a yearly deficit of Rs273.32 million, on cost estimations that include capital expenditure and operational expenditure for the model.
