The project was first tested in Pakistan as Careem introduced 2 female Captains in Karachi, 3 in Lahore and 1 in Islamabad. After the successful pilot project, the service was introduced nationwide.

Junaid Iqbal, General Manager, Careem Pakistan said at that time that, “This is a unique milestone for us here in Pakistan and we are excited to be the ones leading the movement. Launching a female Captain Service, not only helps create equal employment opportunities but also encourages others to break through cultural and social barriers.”

It is important to empower women, provide them jobs in every field, make them realize that they are an important part of our society. Careem played its role in defining that.

Now for its efforts and the part played in giving women their rightful place in society the company has been nominated for National Innovation Awards 2017 for ‘Social Development Innovation’ Category.
