Careem Offers Free Rides on Elections Day for Voters

Careem is offering free rides on Elections Day for Voters.

Less than a week left when General Elections 2018 will be held in Pakistan. It is expected that millions of Pakistanis will leave the comfort of their homes to go out and vote as many will just skip it.

One of the reasons that many people avoid going out to vote is due to the unavailability of transportation. As people reside in a different district and their polling station may be miles apart they just feel its better not to vote.

Now in order to compel people to go out and vote, Careem has started a program. It is a volunteer program that will provide free rides to voters on Elections Day.

On 25th July, Careem will launch a special car type called ‘Jhamuriyat Car’. These cars will be driven by the volunteers of this program who believe in the notion that everyone must vote. The volunteers will drive fellow Pakistanis to/from their respective polling stations.

Careem in a post on Facebook said, “If you believe that every Pakistani deserves to vote and If you support Democracy, then why not turn this passion to action and volunteer to DriveVoters on Election Day? Inaccessible transportation is one of the biggest hurdles on Election Day. We urge you to sign up and give a fellow Pakistani a ride to/from the polling stations on the big day – 25th July 2018.”

Registration form for this car type has been opened by Careem. Those who want to join this program can sign up for it now.
