The leading ride-hailing companies in Pakistan, Careem & Uber are back in competition with their bike services.
Careem Bike Service
Careem launched its bikes service back in October 2017. The aim of launching bike services in Pakistan was to provide affordable rides to the consumers by keeping in mind the setting and environment of the country.

Shoaib Akhtar was appointed the brand ambassador of Careem bike services. At the launch of the service, Shoaib Akhtar said, “Careem has started this initiative as a way to combat unemployment.” Adding, “ The basic aim is to provide rozi roti (bread and butter) to those who are at a 9-5 job and have a couple of hours on their hands. They can avail this service and earn extra cash for themselves.”
In March, Careem reduced its bike fares.
The first 5km cost Rs 49. Rs 5 is charged additional per km. Rs 2 is charged for additional per minute.
Careem bike services are available in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Peshawar.
Uber Bike Service
Uber just recently launched its bike services. The aim of Uber Bike Services, UberMoto is same as that of Careem bike, to provide safe, affordable and convenient services to the customers.
While inaugurating the UberMoto service in Pakistan, General Manager of Uber Pakistan said, “Motorbikes are a fundamental part of Pakistan’s transportation network and as such, this is a great opportunity to launch uberMOTO, which will provide more mobility options catered to the needs of people in Pakistan. uberMOTO continues to support our commitment to provide affordable safe and reliable means of transportation while also creating additional job opportunities in Pakistan.”

The prices of UberMoto in Pakistan are quite cheap. The basic fare of the ride is Rs.23. Per mile, the passenger is charged with Rs 7 and per minute the charge is Rs 1.
From Liberty bazar to Model Town the fare is Rs 49-64. From Arfa Towers to Racecourse the fare is Rs 92-115.From Mall Road to Hussain Chock the fare is Rs 89-111. From Samnabad to Anarkali the fare is Rs 64-79.
Which is better?
In terms of experience, Careem bike service is older than the UberMoto service. Also, the UberMoto is yet just available in Lahore and later it will expand to other cities of Pakistan. But what matters, in the end, is which service is cheaper? Once people start using both the services, we will learn more about which bike service is more affordable comparatively.
