The CAA has given the directives of installing the thermal scanners at the domestic lounge of the Karachi airport.
The airport management has been told to impose the orders before the suspended domestic flight operations resume in the country. It has also been told to make sure that all the preventive measures are taken.
As per the spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority, a scanner was installed initially at the airport for the international flights. He added that the second one is being put up at the domestic counter and at the lounge of the Jinnah International Airport.
The aviation authority has given confirmation that the machines would be installed at the airports in Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Islamabad and Faisalabad by the 13th of this month.
Once the scanners are completely installed, it is anticipated that the local flight operations would resume as per usual. Passengers are being screened thoroughly for coronavirus detection.
The development has come after the number of coronavirus cases surged more than 5,000 across the nation.
