The Civil Aviation Authority has closed down the main runway of the Allama Iqbal Airport, Lahore for repair and maintenance work that began yesterday.
As per the official notice by the CAA, the runway 18-L of Allama Iqbal airport would remain closed for all the flights for the span of the next 2 months, commencing from the 4th of June.
The aviation authority has also asked all the airline operators to make use of the 36-L runway.
The runway 18-L would be reopened for both the local and international flights on the 4th of August.
The aviation authority has directed all the airlines to limit the number of passengers to decrease the wieght of the aircraft until the 4th of August.
The authority also issued warnings to impose heavy fines and to take strict actions against the airlines carrying out the flight operations in violation of this order.
