Smartphones have been banned by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in all national airports’ lounges and aprons. Through a notification issued on Friday, this decision was announced.
The notification issued stated that travelers will not be permitted to use smartphones in specific places of the airports. This includes the apron and lounges.
The notification read, “All addresses are hereby informed that henceforth, the use of mobile phones in the restricted areas, i.e., Apron and Lounges, etc. is strictly prohibited.”

It has been warned in the notification that the Airport Entry Pass will be seized if they don’t follow the rules. Also, in case travelers use mobile phones in the restricted areas the matter will be taken to the higher authorities of the concerned department/functionary.
The circular read, “Foregoing in view, all addresses are informed to disseminate the information to all concerned under their respective command as well as to ensure compliance with the instructions.”
All managers and officials of national airports have been informed by the aviation authority in this regard. It has been directed to brief your staff to coordinate with CAA Vigilance for ensuring compliance of the above-mentioned instructions.
