According to the news sources and press releases The National Assembly Standing Committee for Planning, Development and Reform was told on Tuesday Rs. 10 billion should be allocated to PM’s health insurance scheme for the year 2017-18 to expand the scope of PM’s HIS.
The standing committee proposed a solution through CDA in order to resolve the land issues regarding Pakistan Institute of Development Economics.
The committee took a strong position against the absence of Secretary M/o National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination. The committee urged him to clear his position in front of committee or else proceedings in breach of privilege would be taken against him.
The Committee was also informed about nine special economic zones, which were agreed in sixth JCC meeting of CPEC in December.
Some MNA’s along with officials from the Ministry of Planning, development and Reform attended the meeting.
PM’s health insurance scheme is a positive initiative if it is managed properly with transparency and fair treatment. The program is specially designed for poor people of Pakistan who can get first class medical treatment and health cover in this program, the eligible people are living in 23 priority districts and earn less than 2$ a day (according to BISP Survey), are the beneficiaries of PM National Health program.
The program provides two categories of treatments, secondary care covers up to Rs. 50,000 and priority care covers up to Rs. 250,000. Top hospitals across the country are included in this program.
