On Friday, 27 July 2018 century’s longest lunar eclipse also known as blood moon will occur in various countries including Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, South and North America and Antarctica. The total phase of “blood moon” lunar eclipse will last for 1 hour and 43 minutes. In Pakistan the lunar eclipse will start on Friday night at 22:14 the total eclipse will begin by 00:30 and the total eclipse will end by 02:13 however, the partial eclipse will last till 04:28.
This will be the second eclipse of the year similarly as solar eclipse occurred two times during the last year.
In a layman’s language, the reflecting light coming from the sun which results in moonlight gets blocked by the earth when the earth comes in the middle of sun and moon, the blocked light by the earth causes moonlight to fade out and the moon becomes dark, this situation is known as the lunar eclipse.
